"ZIPoPo in Kosovo"

Peace-making Project, Kosovo, 2002-2004

In 2002 and in 2004 ZIPoPo was introduced in Kosovo as a peace project under the auspices of the UN mission, organized by Global Perspective Development Centre. Due to the possibility of political unrest and potential danger for trainees, seminars were held under the protection of  Kosovo police and US Marines. Workshops brought together youth from all ethnic groups in Kosovo. According to testimony of the participants, this was the first time they thought about the real possibility of peaceful coexistence of their ethnic groups, which has been hostile for many previous years. “Besides achieving the primary goal to train over 60 youth from all over Kosovo, we are especially impressed by the success of the seminar in bringing the Albanian, Serb, Bosnian, Roma and Turkish youth together in a spirit of unity, friendship and cooperation”, says the letter of gratitude written by the GPDC administration to ACME.
